Robert Smith ha rivelato nuovi dettagli sui due, attesissimi, album dei Cure. Smith ha svelato il titolo di uno dei due album, dando un aggiornamento sullo stato dei lavori.
Il frontman della storica goth band britannica ha partecipato ieri sera ai Badlands NME Awards insieme ai CHVRCHES, band con cui ha collaborato sul singolo 'How Not To Drown'.
Il brano dei CHVRCHES con Robert Smith è stato anche premiato come 'Miglior canzone di un artista britannico'. La band e la voce dei Cure hanno anche suonato How Not To Drown dal vivo, insieme al classico Just Like Heaven.
Il titolo del nuovo album dei Cure
Robert Smith ha partecipato ieri sera ai BandLab NME Awards 2022, i premi assegnati dal celebre magazine britannico New Musical Express. La presenza di Smith era dovuta alla sua collaborazione come ospite speciale dei CHVRCHES per il brano How Not To Drown. Intervistato dal NME, però, Smith ha parlato anche dei Cure e degli attesi due album che da tempo si dice dovrebbero uscire entro la fine dell'anno.
Smith ha svelato che uno dei due album sarà pronto molto, molto presto, mentre l'altro è già concluso:"Sto lavorando ai due nuovi album dei Cure e uno è già finito," ha detto Robert Smith, "Purtroppo si tratta del secondo. Per il primo mi manca ancora da registrare la voce per quattro canzoni, su ogni album ce ne sono dieci. Il primo aprile abbiamo la sessione di missaggio, quindi mi restano altre tre settimane".
Se ancora bisogna aspettare un po' per ascoltare la musica, Robert Smith ha già un titolo da poter condividere con i suoi fan:"So che si chiama 'Songs Of The Lost World' e che c'è già l'artwork pronto, è quasi pronto. Stanno andando a rilento a causa dei problemi con i vinili ma dovrebbe uscire a settembre. Fosse per me lo farei uscire subito, non riesco più ad aspettare".
Il cantante dei Cure è poi tornato sullo stile dei due album dei Cure, ai quali si aggiunge il terzo progetto che uscirà a suo nome:"Il primo album dei Cure è decisamente oscuro. La cosa più dark che abbiamo mai fatto. Il secondo è più allegro, mentre il mio disco solista non uscirà prima del prossimo anno".
A proposito di quello che sarà il suo disco solista, Robert Smith ha aggiunto:"Continuo a modificarlo, è una cosa che volevo fare da tanto tempo e so di avere solo una chance per farlo. Ora ho cominciato ad aggiungere veri strumenti, cose acustiche, mentre due anni fa era solo un insieme di rumori e feedback. Ho cambiato idea. L'ho ascoltato tre volte e ho pensato facesse schifo".

Nel corso della serata, Robert Smith è anche salito sul palco con i CHVRCHES. La band scozzese guidata da Lauren Mayberry ha suonato Asking For A Friend prima di introdurre Robert Smith. Il cantante dei Cure si è presentato imbracciando una chitarra decorata con la bandiera dell'Ucraina e ha accompagnato la band sulle note del singolo collaborativo How Not To Drown.
La Mayberry e Smith hanno poi cantato insieme uno dei classici dei Cure, Just Like Heaven.
How Not To Drown è stato anche premiato come 'Miglior canzone di un artista britannico'. Nel ricevere il premio, la cantante dei CHVRCHES si è detta sorpresa perché, normalmente, non ricevono dei premi e ha ringraziato Robert Smith che è salito sul podio per ritirare con la band il premio. "Il mondo è fottutamente in fiamme", ha poi aggiunto, "Quindi per una sera è bello pensare alle canzoni".
I vincitori Badlands NME Awards 2022
Dopo un anno di pausa a causa della pandemia, il celebre magazine di musica britannico New Musical Express ha organizzato nuovamente i suoi premi.
Ribattezzato in questa occasione Badlands NME AWards 2022, l'evento di premiazione ha visto, ancora una volta, trionfare su tutta la linea uno dei giovani più amati della scena rock britannica: Sam Fender.
L'artista di Newcastle si è infatti portato a casa i premi per Miglior album e Miglior album britannico con "Seventeen Going Under".
Di Liam Gallagher, invece, il momento musicale dell'anno con il suo concerto organizzato in supporto al personale sanitario britannico.
Come Miglior band del mondo, invece, sono stati decretati vincitori i Fontaines D.C. mentre i Wolf Alice hanno vinto come Migliore headliner di un festival.
