I Foo Fighters hanno pubblicato ancora un nuovo estratto dal nuovo album "But Here We Are", in uscita venerdì 2 giugno.
Si tratta di 'The Teacher', una canzone atipica di ben 10 minuti che unisce suoni e sensazioni apparentemente in contrapposizione, pur riuscendo a risultare, evidentemente, frutto della penna di Dave Grohl.
A partire dal titolo, 'The Teacher' sembra una dedica alla madre di Grohl, Virginia, scomparsa lo scorso anno, pochi mesi dopo la morte di Taylor Hawkins.
Per processare un 2022 drammatico, il frontman dei Foo Fighters si è affidato alla musica che ha prodotto un nuovo disco, dedicato proprio a Virginia e Taylor.

Dopo Rescued, Under You e Show Me How, i Foo Fighters hanno pubblicato ufficialmente un nuovo estratto da "But Here We Are", nuovo album in uscita venerdì 2 giugno.
'The Teacher' è una canzone apparentemente atipica per la band americana e sembra strutturata come 'A Day In The Life' dei Beatles, frutto di diverse istanze, frammenti di suoni e sensazioni cuciti insieme per consentire a Grohl di salutare per un'ultima volta Taylor Hawkins e sua madre, Virginia.
Ci sono chitarre dissonanti, un ritornello in pieno stile Foo, riverberi psichedelici e un ritmo che sembra aprirsi e chiudersi in continuazione.
Nel leggere i versi di The Teacher è facile intuire come il brano sia una vera e propria dedica a Virginia Grohl, che faceva l'insegnante, scomparsa pochi mesi dopo il grande lutto provato per la scomparsa di Taylor Hawkins.
Un periodo tragico che Grohl ha affrontato scrivendo le canzoni finite in "But Here We Are" e che forse non casualmente si posiziona come penultima canzone all'interno della tracklist prima del 'riposo' di Rest.
Ad accompagnare The Teacher, un video realizzato dall'artista multimediale Tony Oursler già all'opera, tra le altre cose, per il video di 'Where Are We Now?' di David Bowie.

But Here We Are, il nuovo album dei Foo Fighters
Il nuovo album dei Foo Fighters si chiamerà "But Here We Are" e uscirà il 2 giugno, come a dire 'nonostante tutto siamo ancora qua'.
Un lavoro che la band ha usato come terapia per superare tutti i traumi, trasformando la sofferenza in musica, grazie anche al supporto del collaboratore di vecchia data, Greg Kurstin.
Parlando di "But Here We Are", all'annuncio dell'album i Foo Fighters avevano descritto come una : "Una risposta brutalmente onesta ed emotivamente cruda a tutto ciò che i Foo Fighters hanno sopportato nell'ultimo anno. Una testimonianza dei poteri curativi della musica, dell'amicizia e della famiglia".
All'annuncio dell'album, i Foo Fighters hanno pubblicato il singolo del ritorno 'Rescued'.
La scorsa settimana la band di Dave Grohl ha fatto uscire un secondo estratto dal disco, 'Under You', una canzone che sembra affrontare direttamente il sentimento della perdita e la scomparsa di Taylor Hawkins.
"But Here We Are" è già disponibile in preorder sul sito della band in numerosi formati, incluso in vinile bianco.
