The Killers, ascolta la nuova 'My Own Soul's Warning'

Il brano è il nuovo estratto dal sesto album dei Killers "Imploding The Mirage" che uscirà prossimamente

I Killers hanno pubblicato un nuovo estratto da "Imploding The Mirage", il nuovo album originariamente previsto per il 29 maggio e ora rimandato a data da destinarsi a causa della pandemia. Il brano si chiama 'My Own Soul's Warning' ed è il secondo, epico, singolo ufficiale dopo la hit 'Caution' pubblicata nei mesi scorsi che rispetta la direzione indicata dal leader Brandon Flowers che porta la band originaria di Las Vegas verso territori a metà tra le strade americane di Springsteen e il sound britannico della Manchester anni'80.

Anche per quanto riguarda l'artwork My Own Soul's Warning continua ad utilizzare in copertina delle opere dell'artista Thomas Blackshear, responsabile anche delle copertine di 'Caution' e "Imploding The Mirage", andando ad attingere ad un'illustrazione che fa parte di una serie di lavori sulla tribù Crow dei Sioux che ha benedetto la scelta: " Il fatto che gli artisti di tutto il mondo siano ispirati dalla nostra gente e dai nostri usi e costumi è un grande onore e la testimonianza della grande saggezza del nostro popolo. Nel corso di questo periodo senza precedenti, segnato dalla pandemia di COVID-19, dall'ingiustizia, dalla brutalità della polizia e dalle proteste in tutto il mondo, riconosciamo il bisogno di aiutare anche a preservare la positività”.

"Imploding The Mirage"

Imploding the Mirage è il sesto album in studio targato The Killers e segue Wonderful Wonderful del 2017, un successo arrivato in testa a tutte le classifiche. Prodotto dalla band stessa in collaborazione con Shawn Everett e Jonathan Rado dei Foxygen, è stato registrato a Los Angeles, Las Vegas e Park City (Utah). È il primo album che i Killers hanno scritto e registrato dopo aver lasciato la loro città natale, Las Vegas, e vanta un gran numero di collaborazioni, un'altra novità per il gruppo, che di solito mantiene i featuring al minimo. Tra di loro figurano Lindsey Buckingham, kd lang, Weyes Blood, Adam Granduciel, Blake Miles e Lucius.

Dal loro debutto del 2004 con Hot Fuss, i Killers hanno venduto 28 milioni di album, hanno fatto da headliner nei più grandi stadi e festival di tutto il mondo e hanno vinto decine di premi.

Land Of The Free per George Floyd

Recentemente i Killers hanno condiviso una versione in acustico di 'Land Of The Free', stand alone single uscito lo scorso anno, in cui Brandon Flowers ha modificato i versi dedicandoli all'omicidio di George Floyd che ha scosso l'America ed il mondo nelle ultime settimane portando in strada miglia di persone unite nella protesta.

"How many killings must one man watch in his home" (Quanti omicidi un uomo deve vedere a casa propria?) per poi riferirsi al tempo della lunga agonia di Floyd " Eight measured minutes and 46 seconds, another boy in the bag / Another stain on the flag” (Otto minuti contati e quarantasei secondi/un altro ragazzo nella sacca/un'altra macchia sulla bandiera).

Più avanti nel brano, Brandon si rivolge al cielo chiedendo aiuto per superare l'odio e dice: "Father in heaven, help us see how to lose our hatred how to break these cycles and change our nature / That we may walk underneath your banner / In the Land Of The Freehatred" (Padre che sei nei cieli, aiutaci a vedere come perdere il nostro odio, come spezzare questo ciclo e cambiare la nostra natura).
