I Libertines hanno annunciato il ritorno con il nuovo album "All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade", anticipato dal singolo Run Run Run.
Per la band inglese guidata da Peter Doherty e Carl Barat si tratta del primo album in nove anni.
L'ultimo è stato "Anthems For Doomed Youth" del 2015.
Composto da 11 tracce inedite e prodotto da Dimitri Tikovoï (the Horrors, Charli XCX, Becky Hill), "All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade" uscirà l'8 marzo 2024.
I Libertines tornano con il singolo Run Run Run e il quarto album
A distanza di nove anni da "Anthems For Doomed Youth" del 2015, i Libertines hanno annunciato il quarto album in studio.
"All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade" uscirà il prossimo 8 marzo, è composto da 11 tracce per la produzione di Dimitri Tikovoï ed è stato scritto in Giamaica e registrato ad Albion Rooms, il quartier generale dei Libertines a Margate.
Ad anticipare la release dell'album, è stato pubblicato oggi il nuovo singolo Run Run Run, un classico brano in stile Libertines che sembra riportare Carl Barat e Peter Doherty indietro di 15 anni, musicalmente parlando.
"Parla di sentirsi in trappola e cercare di scappare dalla propria triste vita, un po' come l'uomo nell'ufficio postale di Bukowski", ha detto Barat del brano. "La cosa peggiore per i Libertines sarebbe rimanere bloccati nella routine del corri-corri-corri, cercando costantemente di rivivere il nostro passato".
Dopo una vita al limite nei primi anni 2000, i Libertines hanno decisamente spezzato il ritmo serrato della vita da rockstar, cercando di sopravvivere fino alla realizzazione del progetto The Albion Rooms, una guest house, studio di registrazione e ritrovo di creativi realizzato a Margate, sulla costa orientale della Gran Bretagna.

All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade
Nell'estate del 2022 Peter Doherty e Carl Barat si sono trasferiti in Giamaica dove hanno tenuto alcune sessioni di scrittura a Port Antonio.
Le canzoni presenti sull'album sono state poi completate con il contributo del bassista John Hassall e del batterista Gary Powell a Margate.
Lì, agli Albion Studios, la band ha registrato quattro settimane con il produttore Dimitri Tikovoï prima di spostarsi agli studi Le Ferme de Gestein in Normandia con il missaggio di Dan Grech-Marguerat (Lana Del Rey/Liam Gallagher/Paul McCartney).
E il quartier generale dei Libertines è anche riferito nel titolo dell'album che, oltre ad avere lo stesso nome del romanzo contro la guerra di Erich Maria Remarque, indica anche l'indirizzo degli Albion Studios che si trovano sulla East Esplanade di Margate. Anche la copertina di All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade è stata scattata davanti lo studio nuova casa dei Libertines.
"Sento che abbiamo completato una sorta di ciclo come band e finalmente ora possiamo aggiungere queste canzoni alla scaletta perché ci sono pezzi forti", ha detto Doherty.
“Il nostro primo disco è nato dal panico e dall’incredulità che ci fosse effettivamente permesso di stare in uno studio; il secondo è nato dal conflitto e dalla miseria totale; il terzo è nato dalla complessità", ha aggiunto Barat. "In questo sembra che fossimo davvero tutti nello stesso posto, alla stessa velocità, e fossimo davvero connessi.
Il nuovo album dei Libertines “All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade” è disponibile su CD, CD deluxe, vinile 12” in varianti colorate in edizione limitata, doppia cassetta deluxe e download digitale l’8 marzo.
